Taiwan Stamps : 1970 TW C132 Scott 1649-50 Japan World Exposition China, MNH, F-VF : With the theme of "Progress and Harmony for Mankind," EXPO ?????70 was held at Osaka, Japan for a period of six months from March 15 through September 13,1970. The Pavilion of the Republic of China at EXPO ?????70 sought to bring China to the world and the world to China. Located west of the Theme Pavilion and east of Tuesday Plaza, it had two triangular towers of equal size on opposite corners, linked together by a giant covering of light to form a gateway. This gateway, resembling the majesty of a palace gate in the Han dynasty, symbolized cultural exchange between China and other nations throughout her long history. In order to mark this occasion, a set of Japan World Exposition Commemorative Postage Stamps- was issued on March 13, 1970, two days prior to the inauguration of EXPO ?????70.
