China Stamps - 1997-15 , Scott 2799-2800 The Eighth National Games of the People's Republic of China - Imprint Block of 4 - MNH, VF : The Eighth National Games of the People's Republic of China was held from October 12-24, 1997 in Shanghai.The Eighth National Games was China's last large-scale, high-level comprehensive sports meet of this century. The games had 28 competition categories in 319 events such as balls, field and track, aquatic and ice events, modern pentathlon, equestrian winter games, etc. and 332 gold medals were conferred. About 50 sports delegations from all provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, the Army and industrial sports associations competed at the games.
